The March 28th Put People First demonstration in London was a great success, with estimates of between 35 and 40 thousand people marching.

This was one part of a global campaign to challenge the G20, ahead of their 2nd April summit on the global financial crisis.

The coach organised by the Trades Council sold out, and was filled by a mixture of trades unionists from Plymouth and Exeter, and students, many of who had formed the core of the occupation at Plymouth University, supporting the people of Gaza.

Those demonstrating were a mix of trades unionists and a wide spectrum of campaigners. If the truth be told, the march did suffer from poor organisation, with a break of over an hour between sections of the demonstration arriving in Hyde Park for the rally and speeches, which somewhat lessened it's impact.

The best speech of the day was by comedian and campaigner Mark Thomas who lambasted and ridiculed the politicians and businessmen responsible for the crisis, while at the same time expressing the anger felt by millions of people across the world.

All in all, a good day - the Plymouth contingent returned tired but enthused, but recognising that this was the start, not the end of making sure that we don't pay for the bosses crisis!
